First American Title Insurance Company, one of the nation’s largest title insurers, today announced that Victor I. Koock has joined First American Transportation Title Insurance Company as general counsel for the Marine Division and will work out of First American’s office in New Orleans.

Casbon, president of First American Transportation Title Insurance Company and executive vice president of The First American Corporation. “He has the experience, knowledge, credibility and expertise we need to rapidly move our new enterprise forward.”

First American Transportation Title Insurance Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of First American Title Insurance Company, provides marine vessel and aircraft title insurance as well as administrative and financial services relating to vessel and aircraft transactions. The company was formed in 1999, although First American’s Aircraft Title Division has provided aircraft title insurance for more than 30 years.

Prior to joining First American, Koock worked for Tidewater Inc. from 1968 until 1995, where he served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. He also works as a mediator/arbitrator with The Mediation Group Inc.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama, Koock went on to earn his juris doctor from Loyola University School of Law in 1964. He has been involved in many professional organizations including the Maritime Law Association, the Society for Professionals in Dispute Resolution, as well as local and national bar associations. He also has served on the boards of the American Corporate Counsel Association, the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America and the American Society of Corporate Secretaries. Koock, who resides in New Orleans with his wife, Bunny, has two grown children.
