In Australia and New Zealand, First American’s operations trade as First Title for title insurance and First Mortgage Services for mortgage and property services.

First Title provides title insurance policies to residential and commercial lenders and residential and commercial property purchasers. Title insurance protects the insured against loss caused by a range of risks related to the insured’s legal interest in the property, whether that is a freehold or leasehold ownership interest.

First Title operates under the authority of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority as a general insurer and is a registered company with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. First Title holds an Australian Financial Services (AFS) license which authorizes First Title to provide general insurance advice and to deal in general insurance products to both retail and wholesale clients.

Claims being made under First Title’s Australian and New Zealand policies are demonstrating the benefits of title insurance to lenders and purchasers/owners of both commercial and residential property and are supporting the increased demand for title insurance within the region.

In Australia and New Zealand, First American augments its title insurance product offering with a range of related mortgage administration, mortgage processing and , settlement services. These are provided through the First Mortgage Services group of companies.

Combined these services assist property lenders in streamlining their operations and also protecting real estate transactions via embedding title insurance.
