Randall L. Scott
Randall L. Scott is President and Counsel of the UCC Division of First American Title Insurance Company.
Mr. Scott is a graduate of the University of Maryland (B.S. 1977), with a major in business administration. He is also a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law (J.D. 1980), where he was a member of the Law Review and the Moot Court Board. From 1980 through 1998, Mr. Scott was engaged in the general practice of law, with emphasis in the areas of business, commercial and real estate law.
In January 1999, Mr. Scott joined First American Title Insurance Company as Vice President, Maryland Commercial Manager & Counsel. Subsequently, Mr. Scott accepted a position as Senior Counsel in the UCC Division, where he was involved in all legal issues relating to the Company’s UCC insurance products, insuring the attachment, perfection and priority of security interests in personal property in commercial transactions. His responsibilities included underwriting, regulatory and licensing issues, and all other legal matters referring to the then new UCC products.
Since January 2002, Mr. Scott has served as President of First American’s UCC Division, assuming managerial responsibility for the Division, in addition to remaining intimately involved in the Division’s various legal, underwriting and production issues. Mr. Scott also has extensive real estate title insurance expertise and concurrently serves as the Senior Vice President and Eastern Region Managing Director for First American’s National Commercial Services Division, responsible for the Eastern third of the United States. In addition to his legal and management responsibilities, Mr. Scott provides seminars and presentations on topical commercial finance and real estate issues, including Revised Article 9 of the UCC, mezzanine financing and various title insurance and underwriting matters.
