In June of 2003, First American Title purchased one of
Iowa's oldest family operated businesses named Russell Loan
and Title Company of Adel, Iowa. Russell Loan and Title was
founded in 1872, by LaVerne Russell of Adel, Iowa, and was
continuously owned by the Russell family for five
generations. The company had operated out the same
building, 821 Main Street, Adel, Iowa, for 131 years.
Being the oldest title company in Dallas County, Russell
Loan and Title contained the only set of complete land
tract indices. The indices date back to the original
entries. These complete indices are what had given Russell
Loan and Title's reputation as being the premier abstract
company in Dallas County. Since 1990, Dallas County has
been the fastest growing county in the State of Iowa. To
strengthen the company's foundation built by accuracy and
timely service, Russell Loan and Title automated their
title plant in 1999.
First American Title employs 4 full time abstractors and 4
support personnel. The office is open Monday through
Friday 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. First American Title of
Dallas County also provides pick-up and delivery service
throughout the greater Des Moines area.
