Gary A. Wangberg, a 23-year veteran of the title insurance industry, has been named president and county manager of First American Title Company of San Francisco. The announcement was made by D.P. Kennedy, president and chief executive officer of the Santa Ana-based parent firm, First American Title Insurance Company.

Wangberg succeeds Frank Fulton, who has been appointed manager of First American's branch office in Seattle, Washington. Fulton is returning to the King County office where he previously served as vice president and regional counsel.

Prior to his promotion, Wangberg was vice president and county manager of First American's Monterey County operations based in Salinas, California. He had served in that position since 1982.

Wangberg started in the title industry in 1961. He joined First American in 1972 as vice president and chief title officer of the Santa Rosa, California, office. Wangberg transferred to First American Title Company of Los Angeles in 1974.

Born in Oakland, Nebraska, Wangberg was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was educated at the American River College in Sacramento, California, and spent four years in the U.S. Coast Guard.

First American Title Insurance Company, third largest title insurer in the nation, operates through branches, subsidiaries, affiliates or agents throughout the United States and in Guam, Puerto Rico and England. The company has seven offices in San Francisco County, all located in the city of San Francisco.
