Joel Parker of Irvine was named vice president of regional accounting services and Christine A. Gmitter of Orange was appointed manager of internal audit. The company's grown nationwide has made it necessary to expand and realign duties in our corporate accounting department, according to Kennedy.
In his new position, Parker will establish an agent review program and will service troublesome accounting needs nationally.
Parker, a 12-year veteran with the title company, moved up from assistant vice president and manager of both the internal audit and tax departments. A certified public accountant since 1975, he is a graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle. Earlier, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of staff sergeant.
He has been a member of the internal audit committee of the American Land Title Association since 1979.
Gmitter was promoted to manager of the internal audit group, which reviews effective internal accounting and operating controls, assures that reliable financial data is being reported to the home office and recommends operating improvements.
Prior to her appointment, Gmitter was a senior auditor, a position she held since joining the company in 1983.
Gmitter holds a B.B.A. in accounting from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. She is chairman of a special interest group, Orange County Chapter, Institute of Internal Auditors; and is a member of the audit committee, American Land Title Association, and the Orange County Chapter, Toastmasters International.
