Payne has recently established a real estate venture capital and investment firm, Jackson Street Partners, Ltd., in San Francisco, Calif. In May, she rejoined the board of directors of The First American Title Guaranty Company, Oakland, Calif.
For a period of two years ending February 1988, Payne was president of the Federal Asset Disposition Association and served on its board of directors. FADA was created by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board to manage and sell the most difficult loans and properties from failed savings and loan institutions.
Prior to this, Payne was an executive with Genstar where she served as a group vice president of the land and housing division, president of Genstar Pacific Development Ventures and executive vice president of Sutter Hill Ltd. She originally joined Genstar in 1981.
From 1970 to 1980, she was vice president and shareholder of Eastdil Realty, an investment banking company with offices in New York and San Francisco.
Payne, a native of Kansas City, Mo., is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and received her Masters in business administration from the Harvard Business School in 1970. She was president of the Bay Area Mortgage Association from 1981 to 1982. She has served on the board of directors of the Financial Center Bank. Currently, she is on the advisory board of the University of Michigan's Business School.
