First American Title promotes Nancy M. Pettus to assistant vice president-personnel ...


Nancy M. Pettus has been promoted to assistant vice president-personnel and employee benefits counsel for First American Title Insurance Company, according to President Parker S. Kennedy.

Pettus has been an assistant counsel in the legal department of First American's corporate staff in Santa Ana, Calif., since 1987. Prior to that, she had five years experience in private practice with Copenbarger & Copenbarger and Kadison, Pfaelzer, Woodard, Quinn & Rossi. She received her juris doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, and is a member of the American, California and Orange County bar associations.

Pettus is on the employment and labor relations committee of the American Corporate Counsel Association and a member of Orange County Women Lawyers. She and her two daughters live in Irvine.

Law is a second career for Pettus, who received a bachelor's in music performance at California State University, Los Angeles. She played violin for 15 years with various symphony orchestras and the Baldwin String Quartet before attending law school.

First American Title Insurance Company, based in Santa Ana, Calif., celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1989. One of the largest title insurers in the nation, it offers title services through a network of more than 5,500 office or agents in all 50 states. It also provides title services abroad in Guam, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom.
