Carl Hasselwander named to board of directors of First American Title Insurance Company

Hasselwander has been a regional vice president of First American since 1982, when First American bought his employer, St. Paul Title Insurance Corporation. At that time, he was given responsibility for business development in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
Hasslewander's title career began as a title examiner in 1955 with Burton Abstract and Title Company. After five years he was promoted to branch and agency manager, a position he held for 12 years. Burton Abstract was then bought by St. Paul Title and he was promoted immediately to vice president-Michigan underwriting. He had been appointed division counsel by the time St. Paul Title was sold to First American. A native of Detroit, Hasselwander holds both bachelor's and juris doctor degrees from the University of Michigan.
