Kean has had a long career with the Washington Federal Savings and Loan Association, where he was hired as president in 1950. He later was named chairman, and continues to serve as a director. Kean, who began his savings and loan career in 1932, organized Coast Mortgage and Investment Co. in 1947 and was its president for 19 years. He also served terms as president of the Pacific Northwest Conference of Savings & Loan Associations, Washington State Savings and Loan League, Seattle League of Insured Savings & Loan Associations and Seattle Mortgage Bankers Association.
At the June 30 board meeting, Kean was honored by the combined boards of directors at a special outing at the Seattle Club with dinner following.
"Harold has been a valuable member of our board," Chairman D.P. Kennedy said. "His experience in the savings and loan field was helpful to us in our deliberations, and the entire board will miss his good humor and intelligence."
