The First American Financial Corporation names Craig DeRoy vice president-general counsel

DeRoy has 15 years of legal, environmental, financial and management experience. Most recently, he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of First Environmental Review Insurance Company, where he helped pioneer a new form of property insurance coverage for environmental risks. He has also served as vice president and in-house counsel for First City Properties, a prominent subsidiary of a large diversified Canadian company. His earlier experience includes three years with the Department of Justice as a Deputy Chief and Assistant U.S. Attorney in Los Angeles, and six years as an associate with a tax law firm in Beverly Hills, California.
A native of Los Angeles, DeRoy received his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Southern California, and his juris doctor degree from the Loyola University School of Law. He also holds a master of laws degree in taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law. He is a published authority on corporate and environmental risk management, and is a frequent speaker at seminars for professional organizations.
