Stipanovich's appointment follows a 24-year career with Midland Title. He joined the firm in 1970 as a clerk-typist in the company's Elyria office. In 1983, he was named managing officer of agency operations. Most recently, his responsibilities have included overseeing the operations of the company's residential division. Under his direction, Midland opened offices in Zanesville, Ashland, Brunswick and Fremont, Ohio in 1993.
Stipanovich is secretary-treasurer of the Ohio Land Title Association, the state's trade association of the title insurance industry.
Midland's primary market area is the state of Ohio, with 42 offices and 95 agents throughout the state. Branch offices are also located in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Western Pennsylvania. Headquartered in Cleveland, Midland Title and its affiliated operations rank first in Ohio for gross premiums written in 1992 and 1993.
Midland was founded in 1955 by attorneys Robert J. Swadey, Victor H. Hahn and the late Martin H. Levitt. An operation begun with three employees, Midland today employs almost 600 personnel. In 1986, First American Title acquired Midland's two primary companies--Midland Title Security, Inc. and Midland Title Information, Inc. Four years later, First American purchased the former Commerce Title of Akron, now known as The Midland Commerce Group.
