Patrick E. McLaughlin has moved to the Corporate Staff of First American Title Guaranty Company, an Oakland-based subsidiary of First American Title Insurance Company. He will be working in the Santa Clara County office in San Jose, California, assisting in the implementation of several strategic initiatives, beginning with Santa Clara's preferred provider program. Richard Banks has been promoted and will take McLaughlin's place as division manager for First American Title Guaranty Company's Solano County office in Fairfield, California, according to President Richard Pauletich.

McLaughlin joined First American Title Insurance Company in 1986 as a law clerk and later became an associate counsel for the corporate staff legal department in Santa Ana, California. He moved to Northern California to accept the position of county counsel for San Mateo County. McLaughlin joined the Oakland subsidiary in 1990 as regional counsel and was vice president-Solano County division manager from 1992 until this present move to the corporate staff.

"Pat has done an excellent job in strengthening the Solano operation and in improving our market position," said Pauletich, president and chief executive officer of First American Guaranty Company. "We will now use his talents on a broader scale."

McLaughlin received his bachelor of arts in history from the University of California at Los Angeles and his juris doctor from University of San Francisco School of Law. He now resides in Los Gatos, California.

Banks joined First American Title Guaranty Company in 1982 as a title manager-chief title officer in the Solano County office. He held several positions in Solano County, including special projects-subdivision manager and special projects account manager. Prior to joining First American, Banks worked for another national title insurer for 10 years. Banks also spent 10 years with the U. S. Navy, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

"Richard has served as Pat McLaughlin's right hand for the past two years as he was being groomed to take over in Solano County," said Pauletich. "He has a wealth of experience, ability and knowledge of the Solano market which will be invaluable in our growth program for the division."

Banks received his bachelor of arts in history from the University of Southern California. He spends time as a historian for the Rotary Club of Fairfield and is also an executive board member of the Solano Economic Development Corp. Banks and his wife Pat are moving from Walnut Creek to Vacaville, California. They are the parents of six adult children.
