Ritter began his title career in 1977, joining Jefferson-Pilot Title Insurance Company based in Greensboro, North Carolina. He held various positions including attorney and vice president until being appointed president/treasurer in 1985, a position which he held until the company's purchase by First American following regulatory approval early this year.
Ritter received his bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his juris doctor from the Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama. A long-standing member of North Carolina Land Title Association, Ritter served as its president in 1991-92. He and his wife Jeanette reside in Greensboro with their two children.
First American has moved its North Carolina state office from Charlotte to the Jefferson-Pilot office in Greensboro. It also has branch offices in Charlotte and Goldsboro.
