First American Title appoints Troy Kelley senior vice president and general counsel of subsidiary

Troy X. Kelley has been appointed senior vice president and general counsel for First American Title Company of Los Angeles, according to President Thomas M. Kelley (no relation). The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of First American Title Insurance Company.

Kelley began working for First American Title Company of Los Angeles as associate counsel in 1993 and was made regional counsel in 1994. Prior to joining First American he was an associate at Grijalva & Boss and worked as an attorney and financial advisor for the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. Kelley had previously worked for First American from 1984-1988 in various positions including customer service representative, searcher, relief title officer-examiner and law clerk.

Kelley received his bachelor's degree from the University of California in Berkeley, California. He received his juris doctor degree as well as his master of business administration degree from the State University of New York in Buffalo, New York. In 1989, Kelley clerked for the U.S. Department of Justice. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1990, that of the District of Columbia in 1991, and Kelley was admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1995.
