Philip B. Branson of First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation, James M. Orphanides of First American Title Insurance Company of New York and John W. Long of First American Real Estate Information Services, Inc., have been named to the board of directors of First American Title Insurance Company, according to President Parker S. Kennedy.

Branson joined First American in 1984 as president of First American Home Buyers Protection Corporation, which he was instrumental in founding. The company currently holds one of the largest industry market shares, having expanded from its start-up in three California counties to cover the five states of Arizona, California, Oregon, Texas and Washington. Prior to joining First American, Branson was senior vice president of Ticor Title and later became president and founder of what was at the time the largest home warranty company in the country.

Branson received his bachelor's degree from the University of Santa Clara and his master's of business administration from Northwestern University. He is active in both industry and civic organizations, currently serving as the national president of Child SHARE, an organization which places abused and neglected children. Branson is also a four-time president of the California Home Warranty Association. He and his wife Susan live in La Canada with their two daughters.

Orphanides joined First American in 1992 when Preferred Land Title Services, Inc., of which he was a principal, was purchased by First American. He has been in the title insurance industry in New York City since 1972, doing national sales and marketing for two other national title insurers until helping to form Preferred Land Title Services, Inc., in 1982. Orphanides has been on the board of directors of First American Title's New York subsidiary since 1992.

Orphanides received his bachelor's degree from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio, and his master of arts degree from City University of New York. He is an associate member of both the New York State Land Title Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers. Orphanides also serves on the board of trustees for the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey. He and his wife Nora reside in Princeton, New Jersey and are the parents of three children.

Long has been in the tax service industry for more than 16 years. He began his career with Ticor Realty Tax Service, which First American acquired in 1991. After eight years with Ticor, Long left to start his own company, serving as president of New York-based Metropolitan Realty Tax Service. When First American acquired Metropolitan in 1990, Long was named eastern regional vice president and marketing director. He was promoted to executive vice president in 1991 and became president in 1993.

Long received his bachelor's degree from the College of New Rochelle and his master's of business administration from Hofstra University. He resides in Tierra Verde, Florida, and is the father of two children.
