Robert J. Hauser, Jr., has been appointed senior vice president-director of national agency operations for First American Title Insurance Company, according to President Parker S. Kennedy. As such, he will oversee the company’s national agency programs and other company initiatives, working out of the New York City office.

Hauser is a 26-year veteran of the title insurance industry. Prior to joining First American, he had served as president and chief operating officer at Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company and Transnation (formerly Transamerica) Title Insurance Company.

Currently the Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee for the American Land Title Association, Hauser has been extremely active with industry associations. He is a member and past president of the New England Land Title Association and the Connecticut Board of Title Underwriters. In addition, he is a member of the New Jersey Land Title Association and the Executive Committee of both the New York Land Title Association and the New York Rating Bureau.

Hauser spent nine years in the Connecticut General Assembly, where he served as vice chairman of the Banks Committee. He sits on the board of directors for the Junior Achievement of Delaware Valley, Inc., and is a member of the Advisory Board of Quinnipac College.

Hauser began his career with Commonwealth in 1977. By 1987 he had been promoted to Connecticut state manager and three years later was appointed senior vice president and Northeast regional manager. In addition to his duties as president which he took on in 1993, he served on the board of directors of both Commonwealth and Transnation.

A resident of Newtown, Pennsylvania, Hauser holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Quinnipac College in Hamden, Conn. He and his wife Barbara have three children.
