Robert W. Duff receives two honors from National Association of Home Builders

Charles Ruma, senior director of the NAHB, presented the 1996 Associate of the Year award to Duff at the NAHB Associate Members' Appreciation Breakfast on January 26, 1997. Duff was chosen from among 133,000 associate members to receive the award, which recognizes his contributions in the industry as well as his association and civic activities.
In addition to the Associate of the Year award, Duff also received a certificate confirming his designation as NAHB Life Director. Designation as Life Director requires attendance at two or more board meetings as a voting director each year for ten years. Duff met the requirements with his attendance at the 1997 NAHB Fall Board meeting in Orlando, Florida.
Duff also played a major role in the first associate members' Silent and Live Auction presented at the convention by Build-Pac, the NAHB's political action committee. Duff, who is also a licensed auctioneer, teamed up with guest auctioneer, Sen. Conrad Burns (R-Mont.), to raise $90,000 for Build-Pac's political education programs.
Duff is a senior vice president with First American Title Insurance Company. He is in charge of the company's National Subdivision and Land Development Division and is extremely active in both the builder community and builder organizations. Duff's achievements and honors span both the local and national levels. His activities in many industry organizations include involvement with the California Land Title Association, the Association of Real Estate Attorneys, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Build-Pac Political Action Committee, the NAHB Membership Committee, the title insurance industry's Governmental Action Committee and the California Building Industry Association's Membership Committee.
Last year, Duff was nominated to the position of NAHB director as an associate member by the board of directors of the Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIA/SC). He was also elected by the California Building Industry Association (CBIA) to the position of director as an associate member of the NAHB, the only associate from the state of California. Duff was also appointed to the NAHB Associate Advisory Council, named chairman of the NAHB Associate Membership Committee, and given responsibility as liaison to the NAHB Residential Builders Committee.
Duff is also a lifetime honorary member of the board of directors for the Building Industry Association of Orange County (BIA/OC). He currently serves as a director from industry for the BIA/SC board of directors.
The long-time title executive has authored several pamphlets covering real estate-related subjects. He is a licensed auctioneer and donates his time and talent by assisting in various charity auctions for groups such as the Special Olympics, Diabetes Association, Children's Hospital, American Cancer Society and many others. Duff and his wife Charyl live in the Upper Newport Bay area.
