First American Title Insurance Company acquires Monroe Title Company in Ramrod Key, Florida

October 15, 1998, SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA

The First American Financial Corporation (NYSE: FAF), the leading provider of real estate-related financial and information services, announced today that its primary subsidiary, First American Title Insurance Company, has purchased Monroe Title Company in Ramrod Key, Florida. The acquisition will serve Monroe County, particularly the lower Florida Keys.

Monroe Title Company will continue to operate under its present name, and will retain its current staff. Brenda Johnson, who had been serving as president and office manager, will also now serve as escrow operations manager for Monroe County, with Mary Donaldson serving as vice president-operations manager.

"I feel proud to be part of the First American family," said Johnson. "All of my clients see this acquisition as a great advantage for themselves and their customers, because most people that know anything about title insurance are familiar with First American's reputation for excellence."

Monroe Title Company was founded in 1992 by Brenda Johnson, Diana Reif and Kay Finley, all of whom owned the company until its recent purchase by First American. Originally based in Cudjoe Key, the company relocated to its current location in Ramrod Key in February 1996. The acquisition will enhance Monroe Title's ability to provide service to other parts of the county, as well as give First American a larger share of the market in the Florida Keys area.
