Paul W. Knutson named controller for First American Title Insurance Company in Santa Ana


November 17, 1998, SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA

First American Title Insurance Company, one of the nation's largest title insurers, announced today that Paul W. Knutson has been promoted to controller. Knutson will be responsible for Securities and Exchange Commission filings and internal financial reporting.

Knutson joined First American as staff auditor for the Santa Ana corporate office in 1988. A year later, he was promoted to senior financial analyst, a position he held until being named vice president-assistant controller in 1993. Prior to joining First American, Knutson served for two years in accounting positions with Suby, Von Haden & Associates, S.C., in Madison, Wisconsin.

Knutson, who holds a bachelor's degree in business administration-accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, is a current member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Born in Wisconsin, Knutson currently resides in the city of Dana Point, California.
