FIRST AMERICAN TITLE ACQUIRES FLORIDA-BASED OMNI TITLE OF PASCO, INC.

August 19, 1999, SANTA ANA, Calif.

The First American Financial Corporation (NYSE: FAF), the leading provider of business information and related products and services, announced today that its largest subsidiary, First American Title Insurance Company, has acquired Florida-based Omni Title of Pasco, Inc., from owner Lois E. Robinson. Terms of the transaction, which closed August 3, 1999, were not disclosed.

Omni Title, which has 12 employees, will operate as Omni Title, a First American branch. The company is located in Pasco County, Fla., with two offices in the city of New Port Richey, and an office in the city of Bayonet Point. First American's New Port Richey office will be consolidated into Omni Title's New Port Richey corporate office.

"We are excited to be adding Lois and her staff to our branch network in Florida," said Mike Conway, regional vice president of Florida for First American Title Insurance Company. "With the addition of Omni Title to the First American family, we will now be able to provide extensive coverage throughout Pasco County. The acquisition truly makes First American number one in market share in this area."

Omni Title opened its first office in May 1985 in New Port Richey, Fla., with the Bayonet Point, Fla., office opening in 1991 and the second New Port Richey office opening in 1995. Robinson, who had been serving as president of Omni Title, will continue with the company as vice president-Pasco County manager.

First American, which previously had only one office in Pasco County, benefits from the acquisition of Omni Title, which has consistently held the largest market share in the Pasco County area for the past six years.

"The best just got better," said Robinson. "Omni now has the backing of a large corporation and we will be able to provide services to our customers that we were otherwise not able to provide. The title industry is rapidly changing, especially on the technology side, and to keep up with the competition we need to have access to the latest technology our industry has to offer. Omni's employees will also benefit by having access to First American's extensive benefits programs."
