FIRST AMERICAN TITLE INSURANCE COMPANY ACQUIRES KANSAS-BASED GUARANTEE TITLE

The three offices of Guarantee Title will retain their current names, with Joe F. Jenkins II continuing as president of both the Wyandotte County and Leavenworth offices and Douglas T. Tyler continuing as president of the Johnson County office. Jenkins, who has more than 30 years of title industry experience, is a recognized member of the Kansas City real estate community, with many contacts among real estate agents and builders. Tyler, who has 28 years of title industry experience, co-founded Guarantee Title's Johnson County office with Jenkins.

Presently, First American's operations in the Kansas City market are conducted primarily through several branch offices, as well as a network of small, local agents. Guarantee Title holds the largest market share in Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties, including Kansas City, Kan.

Guarantee Title was founded in 1889 in Wyandotte County, Kan. In 1941, the company was purchased by Joe F. Jenkins Sr., who incorporated it as Guarantee Abstract and Title Company, Inc., 13 years later. In 1987, the company's name was changed to Guarantee Title of Wyandotte County. Guarantee Title's Johnson County office was incorporated in 1977, with the Leavenworth office incorporated in 1980.
