Joseph J. Attura named vice president-state manager/state Counsel for First ...

First American Title Insurance Company, one of the nation's largest title insurers, announced today that Joseph J. Attura has been named vice president-state manager/state counsel for the company's Maine operations. Working out of the South Portland, Maine, office, Attura will undertake business development and counsel responsibilities.

Attura started with First American as state counsel for Maine in 1988, and was promoted to the additional position of vice president three years later. Prior to joining First American, Attura served as an associate with Franklin Walker in Damariscotta, Maine; title attorney with a Portland, Maine, title company; and sole practitioner in private practice.

Attura holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from St. John's University in New York and a juris doctor from St. Mary's University School of Law in New York. Attura is a member and past president of the Maine Land Title Association, as well as a member of the American Bar Association and the Maine State Bar Association, where he also serves on the Title Standards Subcommittee. Born in Mineola, New York, Attura resides in Yarmouth, Maine, with his wife, Helen, and their four children.
