Richard A. Dickson named vice president-state manager for First American Title ...

February 2, 1999, SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA

First American Title Insurance Company, one of the nation's largest title insurers, announced today that Richard ("Rik") A. Dickson has been named vice president-state manager for the company's Connecticut operations. Working out of the Hartford, Conn., office, Dickson will be responsible for business development and operations for the state of Connecticut.

Dickson, who has 27 years of title-industry experience, started with First American in 1984 as an agency representative. Three years later, he was promoted to vice president-state manager of New Hampshire, his most recent position. Before joining First American, Dickson spent three years as owner and president of his own title company, which was underwritten by First American. Prior to that, Dickson held various positions, including two branch management posts with a regional underwriter in Florida. Dickson began his title career in 1972 as an abstractor with an East Coast-based underwriter in Jacksonville, Fla.

Dickson holds a bachelor's degree from Barry University in Miami, Fla., and is on schedule to receive his master's degree in business administration from Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, N.H., in May 1999.

Dickson is a Rotarian, most recently with the Rotary Club of Bedford, N.H. He is a past president of the New England Land Title Association, where he also served on the board of directors. Dickson has also served in support roles to the leadership of the American Land Title Association, most recently as chairman of the Membership and Organization Committee. Dickson is a former volunteer for both the Boy Scouts of America and the Bow Recreation Department's youth basketball program. In addition, he was also involved in the fundraising efforts of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Born in Detroit, Mich., Dickson will be relocating from Bow, N.H., to Hartford, Conn., with his wife, Jeryl, and their two children.
