Robert M. Bowen to retire as regional vice president of Nevada for First American ...

First American Title Insurance Company, one of the nation's largest title insurers, announced today that Robert M. Bowen will be retiring from the company after 38 years of service. Bowen, who will officially retire in October, has served as regional vice president for the state of Nevada since 1995.

In expectation of Bowen's retirement, the company has promoted Lynn A. Donner to state manager of Nevada. Donner has been with First American since 1979, having started as a file clerk for the Las Vegas office of the Nevada subsidiary. While there, she worked her way through various positions including recorder, escrow secretary, high liability and commercial escrow officer, escrow branch manager, escrow supervisor and, most recently, county manager for the Nevada subsidiary's Clark County operations. The Nevada territory will also be added to the Utah and Oklahoma region under Lane Gidney, president of the Utah division and regional vice president.

Bowen, who has 39 years of title industry experience, has been with the company since 1961, when he was hired as a title officer and searcher for First American's predecessor, then called Orange County Title, at the Orange County, Calif., branch office. Six years later, Bowen transferred to the Santa Barbara, Calif., office of First American to accept the position of chief title officer. In 1970, he was named county manager for Tulare County, Calif., and two years later to county manager of Santa Barbara. In 1975, Bowen was named president of the company's Nevada subsidiary and state manager for the parent company. Bowen was named to his most recent position of regional vice president for the state of Nevada in 1995.

"Bob was instrumental in the growth of First American," said Gary L. Kermott, president of First American Title Insurance Company. "His contributions to First American's success are greatly appreciated and we wish him well in his retirement."

Bowen attended the New Hampshire College of Accounting and Hesser Business College in Manchester, N.H. He has served as both vice president of the Reno Council of the Navy League of the United States and as second vice chairman of the Senior Alliance for Support Services in Reno, Nev. In addition, he is also a long-standing member of the Nevada Land Title Association for which he is a past president. Born in New Hampshire, Bowen lives in Reno, Nev., and has two grown children, Eric and Lisa.
