First American Title Insurance Company, one of the nation's largest title insurers, announced today that Timothy V. Kemp has been named vice president-associate senior underwriter for First American Title Insurance Company. Working out of the corporate office in Santa Ana, Kemp is responsible for underwriting special risks and high liability transactions nationwide.

Kemp started with First American as Mississippi state counsel for the Jackson office in 1994. Prior to joining the company, Kemp served for four years as senior attorney and acting assistant secretary of state with the Mississippi secretary of state in Jackson. From 1983 until mid-1990, Kemp served in private law practice, where he specialized in litigation and bankruptcy law, as well as commercial transactions.

Kemp holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Millsaps College, in Jackson, Miss., and a juris doctor from The University of Mississippi, in Oxford. Kemp is a member of the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar and the Mississippi State Bar, where he served as chairman of the Real Property Section of the Legislative Affairs Committee. A native of Mississippi, Kemp is relocating to Coto De Caza, Calif., with his wife, Lynn, and their two children.
