First American Title Insurance Company names David W. Toomey Delaware state manager

March 28, 2000, SANTA ANA, Calif.

First American Title Insurance Company, one of the nation's largest title insurers, today announced the appointment of David W. Toomey as state manager for Delaware. In his new position, Toomey reports to Michael F. Frederick, North Atlantic regional vice president for First American. The North Atlantic region comprises Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Toomey assumed his new position as of January 1. He replaces Alan J. Exelby, who held the dual roles of state manager of Delaware and New Jersey. Exelby maintains his New Jersey responsibilities.

As Delaware state manager, Toomey is responsible for agency support in the Delaware cities of Wilmington and Georgetown and for the state office in Dover. Toomey, who joined the company in 1992, was responsible for increasing First American's Delaware market share from 2 percent to 17 percent during his first eight years with the company.

Toomey initially worked in First American's Sussex County office in Georgetown, Del., before being asked in 1997 to open and operate the Kent County office in Dover. In 1999, he took over operation of the Wilmington office in New Castle County.

Before joining First American, Toomey worked for another title company in Georgetown, Del., and also served as a draftsman, planner and cartographic technician for the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Office.

Toomey holds an associate of science degree in engineering from Delaware Technical and Community College in Georgetown, the city in which he resides with his wife and two children.
