FIRST AMERICAN TITLE NAMES JOSEPH TAVAREZ SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF NATIONAL SUBDIVISION

Tavarez began his career in the real estate industry with Spring Mountain Escrow Company in Newport Beach, Calif., in 1988, where he served as president until June 1996, when he joined WMC Mortgage Company in Woodland Hills as senior vice president. Tavarez remained at WMC Mortgage for two years where he was responsible for developing customer relationships and overseeing a national sales force. From June 1998 until joining First American, Tavarez served as senior vice president of builder services and major accounts for another Southern California-based title insurance company.
A graduate of the University of Southern California, Tavarez received his bachelor's degree in business administration before attending the University of San Francisco School of Law. He is active in the Building Industry Association and the USC Cardinal and Gold Alumni Association. He has also served on the board of the Fran Joswick Therapeutic Riding Center, an equestrian center for advancing the development of physically and mentally disabled children; and the Inner City Law Center, which provides legal services for disadvantaged inner-city residents. Tavarez resides in San Juan Capistrano with his wife, Susie, and their three sons.
