First American Title Insurance Company, one of the nation’s largest title insurers and the largest subsidiary of The First American Corporation (NYSE:FAF), today announced that Larry Godec has been named chief information officer.

Godec, who has nearly 20 years of experience in all facets of information technology, will assume responsibility for the development and management of the company’s information systems. Prior to taking on his new position, Godec had served as chief information officer for First American Real Estate Tax Service. Under Godec’s direction, the tax service company redeveloped its core escrow reporting system, implemented new processes to streamline development and released a number of new Web-based products to assist customers.  One of its products, the Property Locator System (PLS), is the industry’s first Web-based tax reporting system with information available on more than 115 million properties.

“Larry’s extensive background in technology, as well as his proven track record for rolling out quality systems while managing cost, make him well qualified for this position,” said John M. Hollenbeck, executive vice president overseeing technology initiatives for The First American Corporation.

Godec earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with minors in computer science and statistics from Colorado State University.  He has been involved in numerous professional and community organizations including the Society of Information Managers, Data Administration Management Association and Software AG International Users Group, where he served as president for 2 years.  He also serves on his church’s finance and auction committees and is a past president of the Carrollton Tennis and Homeowners Association.  Currently a resident of Dallas, Godec plans to relocate to Southern California to work out of the company’s corporate headquarters.
