The First American Corporation (NYSE: FAF), the nation’s leading diversified provider of business information and related products and services, today announced that Kathleen M. Collins has been named special counsel responsible for assisting in the development of joint venture arrangements with select partners and customers of First American.
In her new role, Collins assumes responsibility for negotiating, forming, implementing and managing joint venture and affiliated business opportunities for the company and each of its subsidiaries. She also has been tasked with assuring compliance with legal requirements in the deployment of joint venture strategies for the company.
In addition to her new duties, Collins will retain the position of associate corporate counsel, assisting in the management of the general corporate legal affairs of the company, including securities requirements, corporation law, and general business statutes and procedures.
Collins joined First American in 1997 as associate counsel for the company’s principal subsidiary, First American Title Insurance Company. Prior to joining First American, she served as a paralegal in the Los Angeles and Washington D.C. offices of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Upon completion of her juris doctor, she became an associate for the Law Offices of Kenneth L. Schreiber, then later for Marcus, Watanabe, Snyder & Dave, both based in Los Angeles.
A California native, Collins holds a bachelor’s degree from American University in Washington D.C. and a juris doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. She and her husband, Mark, live in Redondo Beach and are parents of a young son.
