FIRST AMERICAN NAMES THOMAS R. WAWERSICH VP OF MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS


March 27, 2001, SANTA ANA, Calif.

The First American Corporation (NYSE: FAF), the nation’s leading diversified provider of business information and related products and services, today announced that Thomas R. Wawersich has been named vice president of mergers and acquisitions.

In his new position, Wawersich will oversee the merger and acquisition activities of First American’s subsidiaries and affiliates. He also will continue to have overall responsibility for First American’s corporate tax department.

Wawersich joined First American in 1992 when he was appointed assistant vice president–corporate taxes for the company’s principal subsidiary, First American Title Insurance Company. In 1997, he assumed additional duties as director of mergers and acquisitions for First American.

Prior to joining First American, Wawersich worked as a senior tax manager for Price Waterhouse in Costa Mesa. Wawersich received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in business taxation from the University of Minnesota. He is active in numerous professional groups, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Tax Executives Institute.

Wawersich and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Temecula, Calif.
