THE FIRST AMERICAN CORPORATION NAMES TIMOTHY P. SULLIVAN NATIONAL LITIGATION COUNSEL
March 12, 2001, SANTA ANA, Calif.
Sullivan was also named senior vice president of First American Title Insurance Company, The First American Corporation's largest subsidiary, for which he will continue to serve as general counsel. He will have the added responsibility of developing and overseeing a system for managing and monitoring litigation matters across the First American Family of Companies. By working with regional counsel from First American Title and other subsidiaries in the mortgage and consumer information and services segments, Sullivan will manage litigation matters company wide.
"Tim has done an exceptional job overseeing our national title insurance claims," said Parker S. Kennedy, president of The First American Corporation. "As we continue to grow our operations outside of the title insurance arena, we are subject to additional reporting requirements that make a formal and organized system for tracking litigation matters essential. Tim's experience will be invaluable as we continue to diversify and grow our existing operations."
Sullivan joined First American Title in 1992 as vice president-claims counsel. He was appointed as national claims counsel and head of the legal/claims department for the title company in 1994 before being named vice president and general counsel in 1998. Prior to joining First American, Sullivan spent 18 years in private-practice law.
Sullivan received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Southern California and a juris doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
