The First American Corporation (NYSE: FAF), the nation’s leading, diversified provider of business information and related products and services, today announced that it has named Thomas Huffman vice president of the company’s interactive division. In this new role, Huffman has been charged with overseeing First American’s multiproduct e-commerce technology initiatives.

Huffman joined First American in 1997 as chief information officer for the company’s appraisal group. Earlier this year, he was named chief information officer for another First American subsidiary, Vendor Management Services. 

With more than 14 years of systems consulting and project management experience, Huffman has directed large-scale, custom development efforts and enterprise networks for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Bank. Additionally, as founder of two consulting companies, he successfully developed and marketed process improvement software.

Huffman’s contributions have been widely recognized in numerous trade publications. In 1999, he was inducted into the Smithsonian Institute and was the recipient of the 1999 Sybase Outstanding Achievement Award for his technology innovations. 

Huffman earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. The father of a 3-year-old son, he currently lives in Carlsbad, Calif.
