FIRST AMERICAN TITLE INSURANCE COMPANY PROMOTES KAREN CHACKEL TO SANTA BARBARA COUNTY MANAGER

First American Title Insurance Company, one of the nation’s largest title insurers, today announced that Karen Chackel has been appointed vice president and county manager for the company’s operations in Santa Barbara County, Calif.
After joining First American’s Santa Barbara office as a receptionist in 1979, Chackel went on to work in escrow, customer service and sales, gaining a thorough knowledge of the title industry along the way. Most recently, she served as vice president and sales manager, a position she had held since 1990.
Chackel has been actively involved in the Santa Barbara Association of Realtors® and has served on that organization’s Affiliate Committee and the Programs Committee. In recognition of her tireless service, the Association has twice honored her as Affiliate of the Year, in 1988 and 1997.
In addition to her professional activities, Chackel also is active in a number of community programs. Since 1990, she has been involved with Christmas Unity, a group that provides food, clothing and toys for needy families. She also is involved with the Women’s Leads Group, an organization for women in the local business community. Chackel resides in Goleta, Calif., with her husband, Roger, and their two daughters.
