Data Trace Announces Further Expansion In Ohio

September 16, 2004, ANAHEIM, Calif.

Data Trace LLC, the nation’s largest provider of title plant services, today announced it has added three Ohio counties to its ever-widening automated title plant network.

Data Trace’s acquisition of the plant maintenance contract for the Recodat Joint Title Plant in Columbus, the state capital, will allow customers to use a single-seat platform to access tax information, title plant indexes and images of recorded documents for Fairfield, Delaware and Franklin counties. With a single-seat platform, researchers can use one PC to access title plant data on a nationwide basis, reducing staffing and equipment needs.

Bill Heer, senior vice president, corporate operations for Title First, a title agency that co-owns the plant, said: “Data Trace was awarded the contract for several reasons. Data Trace has years of experience, is cost competitive and offers a similar platform in other counties, which allows our employees to transfer their learned skill sets. We’ve been very impressed with the way they operate plants in the other counties where we have business.”

Dan King, senior regional manager for Data Trace’s Midwest region stated: “By choosing Data Trace to manage its three title plants, Recodat’s owners have validated Data Trace’s vision to maximize all the market advantages and cost efficiencies associated with assembling as much title and tax evidence as possible in one place and making it accessible via the Internet.”

The addition of the three Columbus area title plants will complement existing Data Trace title plant services in the Ohio counties of Summit and Cuyahoga through Data Trace’s advanced  system, which is used by every major American title insurance underwriter.

With coverage in 25 states and a title plant and tax database of about one billion records, Data Trace maintains the broadest and most comprehensive title information system available. Data Trace, a joint venture company owned by The First American Corporation and LandAmerica Financial Group, provides technology that enables title insurance companies to connect regional title databases and access them using a standard software interface.
