AmeriDream Partners With First American to Extend Home Buyer Education Programs

AmeriDream®, Inc., the nation’s leader in providing affordable housing opportunities, and The First American Corporation (NYSE: FAF), the nation’s largest data provider, today announced the formation of a partnership that will significantly extend AmeriDream’s home buyer education programs.  The first-of-its-kind partnership between AmeriDream and a title insurance/settlement services provider will facilitate the development of a comprehensive home buyer education guide and a series of home buyer workshops nationwide, which are expected to reach approximately 5,000 potential home buyers.

“AmeriDream has always led the way in implementing solutions to overcome home buying barriers for both English- and Spanish-speaking people,” said Robert Newman, AmeriDream executive vice president and chief operating officer.  “In First American, we have found a corporate partner who shares our goals and commitment to serving America’s under-served families.  This partnership will enable us to complement our online courses with classroom instruction offered by industry professionals.”  

AmeriDream launched its original home buyer education course online in April 2003.  The course, which teaches the “ins and outs” of the home buying process, is free to all home buyers.  Recognizing a growing need, AmeriDream launched a Spanish-language version of the online home buyer education course in July 2003.  AmeriDream was the first down-payment assistance provider to offer home buyer education and the first to offer it in both English and Spanish.  To date, nearly 6,000 home buyers have completed AmeriDream’s online home buyer education course.
