Winkler Appointed Senior Vice President and Corporate Underwriting Counsel for United General

United General Title Insurance Company, a subsidiary of First American Title Insurance Company, today announced that Steven H. Winkler has been appointed senior vice president and corporate underwriting counsel. In this new role, Winkler will assist Bo Edwards, senior vice president and chief title counsel, in supporting the company’s underwriting efforts nationwide.
With more than 33 years of experience in the title insurance industry, Winkler will use his expertise to assist United General’s legal team in all areas of underwriting and new product development. Prior to joining United General, Winkler served as senior vice president and counsel for First American Title Insurance Company.
Winkler is currently a member of several associations, including the American Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, the New Haven County Bar Association, the Hartford County Bar Association, the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association, the American Corporate Counsel Association and the International Association of Attorneys and Executives in Corporate Real Estate. In addition, he has been elected as a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers; an inducted fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys; and was a member of the Connecticut Insurance Commissioner's Title Insurance Task Force, assigned to the Insurance Code Recodification Project. Winkler was also the cofounder and former president of the Connecticut Title Association.
