URBAN HIRED AS VICE PRESIDENT AND STATE COUNSEL FOR UNITED GENERAL TITLE


November 28, 2005, DENVER

Continuing its aggressive expansion into North Carolina and the Southeast, United General Title Insurance Company, a subsidiary of First American Title Insurance Company, today announced that Edmund T. Urban has been named vice president and state counsel. In this new role, he will be based in CharlotteN.C.  

Urban, a 32-year title industry veteran, most recently served as senior vice president and senior state counsel for a local title company where he was responsible for business development in the Charlotte region. Prior to that, he worked as regional counsel for another underwriter. 

Urban, a graduate of Wake Forest University and its School of Law, is an accomplished and published author. In addition to having written numerous real property books and articles, he is a member of the North Carolina bar association; Mecklenburg County bar association; and the North Carolina state bar association, where he serves on the real property, bankruptcy and construction law sections. He is also a member of the North Carolina Land Title Association and served as its president in 1980. Urban also has served as a legislative negotiator for the North Carolina bar association and North Carolina Land Title Association concerning real property matters such as condominium law, probate law, mechanics’ lien law and priorities law. A highly respected speaker at professional meetings, Urban was named to Business North Carolina magazine’s “Legal Elite for Real Estate” in 2004.
