First American Title Insurance Company Names Alan B. Fields State Counsel for Florida

March 29, 2006, SANTA ANA, Calif.

First American Title Insurance Company today announced that Alan B. Fields has joined the company as state counsel for the state of Florida.  In this new position, Fields will be responsible for underwriting and special projects.    

Fields, who brings a wide ranging legal background to his new post, will use his experience with Florida state law to work on behalf of the company in legal matters pertaining to its operations in Florida. Prior to his tenure with First American, Fields had a private legal practice, where he represented major Florida landowners and lenders. 

John T. LaJoie, vice president and regional counsel for First American Title Insurance Company, explains how the expertise that Fields brings to his new role will be an important component in the company’s future development. “First American intends to be the preeminent title insurer in Florida,” said LaJoie. “This requires a team of highly qualified experts, and we are fortunate to have found such a person in Alan. His experience in real estate law, finance and business provides him with a unique perspective on the marketplace and the skills needed to develop this new position.”

In addition to his work with First American, Fields is actively involved in the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law section of the The Florida Bar and a frequent lecturer on real estate topics. Fields, who will be based out of First American Title Insurance Company’s Florida headquarters in Tampa Bay, holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Davidson College in Davidson, N.C., and a juris doctorate from Florida State University.
