Gary L. Bates Promoted to County Manager for First American Title Company

January 11, 2006, SANTA ANA, Calif.

First American Title Insurance Company today announced that Gary L. Bates has been promoted to county manager for Mendocino, Humboldt and Del Norte counties in California.

Bates, who brings more than 28 years of experience in the title and real estate industries to his new post, began his tenure with First American in 1977 when he was hired as customer service manager for Mendocino County. His extensive background includes positions as a recording clerk, title examiner, escrow officer, branch manager and his most recent post as an escrow and title consultant. Prior to joining First American, Bates completed four years of military service, four years as a park ranger with the US Army Corps of Engineers and five years as a real estate agent and lender.

Bates attended the University of Arkansas and currently resides in Boonville, Calif., with his wife, Rosanne, and son, Steve, who are also both employed by First American.
