Landon V. Taylor Named President of First American Title’s strategic markets Division
September 13, 2007, SANTA ANA, Calif.
First American Title Insurance Company announced today that Landon V. Taylor has been named president of the company’s Strategic Markets Division. In his new role, Taylor will be responsible for executing an aggressive, national market-penetration strategy designed to further enhance the company’s position as the title and settlement company of choice for the multicultural real estate market, the nation’s fastest-growing homebuying segment. In addition, Taylor has been appointed to First American Title’s board of directors.
Taylor, who has been responsible for The First American Corporation’s nationwide strategic markets business strategy since 2003, has helped bring to market several innovative new products and business solutions that help mortgage and real estate professionals increase the rate of homeownership in the rapidly growing minority and new immigrant housing markets. He also was instrumental in the formation of several partnerships with community advocates and minority trade organizations, including the Greenlining Institute, the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA), the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) and the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB).
In addition to his strategic markets role, Taylor will continue to direct First American’s New Market Ventures Fund, an investment vehicle that enables the corporation to make high-impact investments aimed at increasing homeownership opportunities in under-served markets.
The First American Corporation’s Market Development group, a unit managed by Taylor since its inception, will now operate under his leadership as First American Title’s Strategic Markets Division.
“By centralizing our strategic markets efforts within the title segment, First American is infusing a business approach that emphasizes innovation, collaboration and target market segmentation throughout all of its title and settlement service business lines,” said Curt G. Johnson, president of First American Title Insurance Company. “Under Landon’s unparalleled leadership, the Strategic Markets team will play a vital role in helping our largest operating segment maximize the increasing organic growth opportunities available within the multicultural real estate market.”
Taylor has held leadership positions with a number of operations within the First American Family of Companies since joining the company 10 years ago as a branch manager for First American Title in Santa Clara, Calif. In 1999, he was named Northern California regional sales manager for First American Real Estate Information Services, Inc. In 2000, he was promoted to vice president, national sales manager for First American Title’s National Lenders Advantage Division. Later that same year, he was named president and chief executive officer of First American VMS. He was promoted to vice president—Market Development for The First American Corporation in 2003, then to his most recent position as senior vice president earlier this year.
Taylor, who is actively involved in a number of professional and civic groups, currently serves on the board of directors for NAHREP; Operation HOPE, Inc.; Emerging Markets Technologies; New Vista Asset Management, Inc.; and West Angeles Ventures, a real estate development corporation specializing in redeveloping south Los Angeles. He is also a past recipient of the National Eagle Leadership Institute’s CareerFOCUS Eagle Award, which is presented annually to a select group of African-American and Hispanic/Latino executives who embody excellence in both corporate and community leadership.
