First American Earns 100 Percent on Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2018 Corporate Equality Index

Company earns perfect score in annual scorecard on LGBTQ workplace equality

November 9, 2017, Santa Ana, Calif.

First American Financial Corporation (NYSE: FAF), a leading global provider of title insurance, settlement services and risk solutions for real estate transactions, announced today that the company earned a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. First American joins the ranks of 609 businesses which also earned perfect scores this year.

“Our people are the stewards of our culture and I’m continually impressed by their efforts to maintain an inclusive workplace,” said Dennis Gilmore, CEO, First American Financial Corporation. “We’ve found that a positive, inclusive culture fosters engaged employees and that engaged employees serve our customers well. That combination, along with the efficient operation of our business, ultimately benefits shareholders as well.”

The 2018 CEI evaluated LGBTQ-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. First American met all of the CEI’s criteria, resulting in a perfect score and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.

Earlier in 2017, Fortune® magazine and Great Place to Work® recognized First American as one of the 100 best companies to work for in America and one of the 2017 Best Workplaces for Women for the second consecutive year, as well as one of the 40 Best Workplaces in Financial Services and one of the 2017 Best Workplaces in Southern California.

First American has earned recognition as a “best place to work” 54 times in publications across the United States since 2012. Internationally, the company’s Canadian subsidiary, FCT, was named by Great Place to Work® as one of that country’s Top 50 Best Workplaces for three consecutive years (2015, 2016 and 2017).
