What is free title monitoring?
Free title monitoring is a service from First American that notifies you of new
filings—such as deeds or liens—that may affect your property ownership. It helps you stay informed and
detect potential fraud early, at no cost.
How is First American's free title monitoring different from other monitoring
services?
Unlike standalone monitoring products, First American's free title monitoring is
paired with the protection of a trusted title insurance policy. That means you not only receive
alerts—you also have the strength of First American behind you if an issue arises.
Is free title monitoring available in my state?
Free title monitoring is available to First American customers for all new title
insurance transactions in eligible states. First American offers free title monitoring for
transactions in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, New Mexico, Texas, Arizona,
Oklahoma, Kansas, Wyoming, Colorado, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan,
Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Florida.
What is this new protection from First American?
It's a free, secure way to help protect your property after closing. You can view
your title documents, understand your coverage, and receive alerts about new filings—such as deeds,
liens, or other activity that could affect your ownership.
Do I have to pay for this protection?
No. This free service is included at no cost when you close your transaction
directly through First American Title. There are no subscriptions, fees, or add-ons required.
How do I activate my account?
Eligible customers receive an invitation email after closing. Simply follow the link
and log in using your EAGLE ID™ to access your documents and property information.
What kind of alerts will I receive?
You'll receive notifications about new publicly recorded filings on your
property—such as deeds, liens, or other voluntary documents. These alerts help you stay aware of
changes that could impact your ownership.
How does this protection help guard against real estate fraud?
Property fraud can happen quietly—often through forged signatures, false filings, or
unnoticed changes to public records. With First American's monitoring alerts, you'll know when a new
deed, lien, or other filing appears on your property so you can act quickly. And unlike
monitoring-only services, First American pairs these alerts with the strength of your title insurance
policy. For tips on spotting and preventing fraud, visit our
Fraud Center.
What should I do if I see something I don't recognize?
Your account includes an easy way to contact First American. Our team can review the
filing with you and guide you through next steps, including starting a claim if needed.
Who is eligible to use this protection?
This service is currently available to customers who close directly through First
American Title in eligible states. We are actively working to expand availability. You can sign up to
receive an email as our eligibility expands.
What if my property isn't eligible yet?
If your property is not yet eligible, you can join our interest list. We'll notify
you as soon as availability expands to your area or your policy becomes supported.
Does this replace my title insurance policy?
No. Your title insurance policy remains your core protection. This new offering
complements your coverage by helping you stay informed about new filings that could impact your
ownership.
Why is title insurance important even after my closing is complete?
Title insurance protects your legal right to own your home. Even after closing,
issues such as recording errors, unpaid liens, or challenges to past ownership can arise. If something
unexpected affects your title, your First American policy provides both protection and support to help
resolve the issue. To learn more about how title insurance protects your ownership and the
