Thomas Blair

Tom Blair is a knowledgeable underwriting professional with more than 30 years of legal and title industry experience. Tom leads the Shared Commercial Underwriting Team from First American’s regional office in Berwyn, PA, helping agents and offices throughout the country focus on underwriting large commercial transactions. His team of national underwriters are highly specialized and committed to growing relationships with our agents and offices to provide high-level underwriting guidance and approve the largest commercial transactions from the field.

Tom has been part of First American’s Corporate Underwriting Department since 2019, but his career in the title industry began in 2002 as Underwriting Counsel with Penn Title. Most recently, Tom served as VP, National Underwriting Counsel as a member of the Shared Commercial Underwriting Team for First American. Previously, he spent more than six years in counsel roles for First American’s North Atlantic Region and Pennsylvania State.

Before becoming an underwriter, Tom practiced law in Missouri (1992-1998) and in Pennsylvania (1998-2002). He is a native of Missouri, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University and later receiving his law degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 1992.

Tom has lectured at numerous seminars and webinars for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and Pennsylvania Land Title Institute, as well as for First American Agency seminars and webinars in multiple states.
