COVID-19 UPDATE: How First American is Responding
As the coronavirus pandemic continues to evolve, we at First American remain committed to supporting the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate, while providing the most consistent level of service possible in these conditions. With that in mind, we have been closely monitoring the coronavirus developments and have taken appropriate steps to limit potential impacts to our employees, customers and operations.
We Continue to Serve Our Customers
We continue to adapt to the changing environment in ways that help protect the health of our employees, customers and communities, but also allow us to provide our services, including shifting many of our employees across the nation to work from home. And while the majority of our people are working remotely, we remain focused on delivering the service and attention our customers have expected from us for over 130 years.
Where circumstances and government rules allow, we have limited staff in place to help customers perform closings and other essential functions. Most of these take place by appointment only. First American employees are taking care to help clients conduct business while taking appropriate precautions, including social distancing and other prevention measures.
Low-Contact and No-Contact Closing Options
To meet the challenge of these unprecedented times, First American offers innovative, low-contact and no-contact closing options to help our customers continue to close real estate transactions.
From Remote Online Notarization and drive-up signings to regular mail and expedited delivery services, First American offers a variety of closing solutions that can help protect the health of our employees, customers and the greater community. While the rules and regulations governing the closing process are evolving rapidly in the current environment, especially with Remote Online Notarization, First American will provide you with the most up-to-date options for your transaction.
Please contact your local First American office or representative for information about how we are working to close transactions in your area.
Closing Transactions Amid Recording Office Closures
Closing real estate transactions in these challenging times requires flexibility and First American is here to help. We are actively monitoring the status of government recording offices around the country in order to determine if office closures will impact the ability to record documents for pending transactions. Even if recording offices in your area have closed or limited their services, First American is committed to making every effort to enable closings where possible. Please contact your local First American office or representative for additional requirements.
Committed to Meeting Customer Needs - Check Back for Updates
We will update this web page as appropriate. As many areas of the country adjust their stay-at-home restrictions, First American remains committed to doing all we can during this difficult time to meet our customers' needs and promote practices that help protect our employees, the customers we serve and our communities. Whether our people are working from home or at the closing table, our customers' best interests and business remains top of mind. Thank you for all you've entrusted with us.
